Unless you travel all the way to Singapore or Malaysia. Ha-ha! But not in NZ, never in NZ. Bookstores EVERYWHERE will be trying to rip you off. I'm not even getting my uni textbooks. orientation at tamaki campus
this morning went to city campus with caris nd assunta... got my course manual and lab coat... we wanted to buy books but bumped into lili and joanna and they said they didn't use text books at all.. li li has been there for 3 yrs, joanna has been there for 2 yrs.. so yea, decided not to get the expensive text books.. shall just borrow from library when i need them..... went to the biological science tour coz i have a bio paper in the city... then went to this cecil learning thingy... hehehe.. learnt how to log on to my webmail as well.. haha!! not bad at all.. very useful.... bump into a few ex-macleans as well.... has free sausage sizzle after that....
at 2pm, took the free bus with caris to go to tamaki campus.....
10 reasons why i like tamaki campus
1. the people there don't dress weirdly, very decent ---> think it's coz there's no "fashionable" asians there... by means of "fashionable" asians wld be that they dress till very la-la.. very jap, very korean-ish, very hongkee-ish.... u kno, a few striking colours that don't quite match.... u can start to see some in sungei wang in msia.. ouch!!!! my aunt didn't understand what la-la meant and when i showed her this shop at 1u where the clothes are very asian-ish, she said: " ohhh, junk dressing?" hahaha.. good one!!!! i dun mean to offend anyone out there.. it's just my own opinions and i have the right to say it out... sorry if i've offended u, i didn't intend to.....
2. overall, the campus is very new. looks like a resort when the bus drove in. i was just shocked! it don't even look like a uni.
3. library is way smaller therefore less likely to get lost. me and caris got sort of lost in the city library.
4. it's a very peaceful place to study. well, it has that peaceful kind of feeling. not like in the city where it's like so crowded. then again, guess it's coz not many ppl turn up for the tour. will just wait till monday and see.
5. free bus to city - tamaki. distance from my house to tamaki campus is way shorter than to city and less traffic. ----> saves petrol, that is if my brother can get a bus pass to travel from tamaki to city.
6. we have FREE PARKING for students who have classes at tamaki. haha! city don't even have free parking.. weeee!!! shame u city ppl!!
7. there's this security phone where when u pick up the phone, u will be directly linked to the security guards already.... and apparently u can get them to watch ur back when u're feeling unsafe when u're staying back at the uni late. haha! sounds a bit scary how u need security guards but hey.. it's at glenn innes... u never kno... but hehehe.. it's so cool!! cool security phone!
8. the cafeteria whatever u call it have WAY cooler tables than the one at city... it's like so stylish nd modern... super uber cool! even caris reckons' it's so cool! it's like those ermm round tables with cool looking chairs...
9. it doesn't have as much buildings as the city therefore easier to find classes... buildings are labelled with numbers... and they hv kinda like a systematic way for our class number.. 1st 3 numbers wld be the building number, then next number wld be the floor number and then later then room number... hehehe... ok, sounds complicated but it's easier when u start finding the class...
10. i'm studying there so obviously i must like it!
see! so many positives!!! hehehe.. but i'm still kinda nervous to go to uni.....*shivers*

orientation day at auck uni...
man!! uni is SO different frm college... three of us were complaining about it and how we miss macleans so much.. weird isn't it? when we were in macleans, we cldn't wait to come out, nw we just attend the orientation, nd we wna go back!! i mean.... we hv to plan our own timetables.. bluekk!!! and we HAVE to pay for everything.. pfft!!!! the books cost HEAPS of $$! and they are so freakin thick!!! but hey! no worries, we can put them in lockers... no worries????? dream on! we have to pay for the lockers.... according to yoony, it's 45 bucks per sem... grrrrrr.... but then again, i'll prob get one.. but in tamaki or city? i'm nt too sure... sucks to hv lectures in both campus... but hey! we have FREE PARKING at tamaki! shame u city ppl!! ok, i'm just trying to think of the good stuff at tamaki... i hvnt been there yet... hahaha!
and omg!! some ppl at uni are WEIRD! the way they dress... OUCH! my eyes hurt... and this is only one day.. imagine the rest of the year. help? guess i'll get used to it... hope the sports science ppl don't dress weird... UNIFORMS are way better!!!
- you don't need to think of what to wear everyday --> saves brain space
- you won't be judge by other ppl ---> cut down gossips
- you won't need to buy new clothes all the time just to impress ppl nd always hv the IN-LOOK -----> saves money!!!
why can't we be like cartoons? everyone's outfit is different but they wear the same one everyday.. e.g. bart simpson, Doug, Sabrina the teenage witch (cartoon version of course) , the kids at Recesss etc etc etc....
ok.. enough about the uni... now i shall complain about the meanie bus driver! ok, we rushed to the bus stop and reached there at 3.20 coz the bus was scheduled to arrive at 3.23... the bus arrived a few minutes late and it stopped before the bus stop coz this man waved it down... so...... we walked to where that man was and lined up behind him.... omg!!!!! after the man get on the bus, the freaking bloody fat maori bus driver just closed the freakin door and drove away!! ishhhh!!!! when he closed the door, we stuck our hands out to show that we wna get on the bus... he looked at us and still just drove away... omg!! i'm sooooooo pissed at him!! son of a *****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i mean, it's alright if we were late but we weren't!! we were there early WAITING for the bus!!! GRRRRRR~!!!!!!!!!!! blogging this down is already making me so angry! i mean, i could just burn the whole bus down and get him to lose his job!!! i kno u r not making as much money as pickin adults up .... but hey! we're still ur customers! pfft!!! damnit!!!!
so yea.. we had to wait for more than half an hour for the next bus.... shermayne reckon' they shld hv more bus 52!!! they hv heaps of bus 51 and 50 but not 52!! anyway, when the next bus FINALLY came (bear in mind it was LATE)... kathyrn n i got onto the bus.. yoonyoung decided to wait for her dad coz if she took the bus, she'll be late for her appointment...anyhuuuu... we got on the bus and paid $3.50 nd showed him our macleans college student card - expires on the 28th of feb.. and that old fag said we are not allowed to use it.. we are no longer students anymore.... grrr!! dude! it's not expired meaning it still can be used!! geeeezzz!!! he blabbed nd blabbed on hw his boss will tell him of nd all those shit nd we still insisted on our student price.. wasting time and saliva... so he hd to give it to us but he said this is the last time... yea man! it'll be the last time on the 28th of feb.... i still need to catch the bus on friday.. grrrr.. hopefully he won't be driving it orelse i'll hv to pay 6 bucks... grrrr!!!! the next few stops were freshies to uni as well so they were using their college id as well.. and yea, u guessed it!! same ol' blabbering.. no wonder the bus was LATE!!! dude! just give us the student price man!! if the thing ain't expired, then just let us use it.. but yea.... poor asian fellas, they didn't even try to argue with him and had to pay 6 bucks.....
wow! today's post is just full of rantings and complaints.. sorryyy!!! i'll be nice the next post.. i promise....

climbing mt.kinabalu and trip at sabah
13th feb- woke up kinda late.. was meant to wake up at 5 and leave at 5.30 as flight was at 7 so hv to reach there at 6.15.... woke up at 5.45 instead...coz i turn off my alarm when it rang as i was so sleepy.. u see, i slept at 4..... so yea.. and dad's alarm did not ring.... very rush but reached airport in time..... reached kk at 9.30... then checked into hotel... stayed in hotel watching tv... typical me.. it's an expensive hotel ok.. so u gta enjoy the facilities! e.g. tv! and... slept as well due to lack of sleep the night before.. in the evening, went and sort out my mountain climbing trip... mum and dad didn't want to climb mount kinabalu so i had to climb alone.... booked my place at gunting lagadan... no heaters, 30 bucks a night.... after the bookings, the unprepared me had to buy some warm clothings.. the only warm thing i brought along was this white hoodie that's quite thin and track pants.... i mean.. how cold can it be?? it's malaysia!!!! bought another jacket that's pretty cool- reversible and bought another track pants.... at night, went for seafood dinner at portview restaurat... prawns was just awesome!! and they had this culture show but couldn't really see it properly as we were sitting at the corner.
after dinner, had to buy some food stuff for my trip bcause there wasn't any restaurant at gunting lagadan hut, only have a kitchen apparently.. and laban rata which has a restaurant was approx. 200m...but i bet food was gna be expensive there so just bought my food instead... two cup noodles, two cans of 100 plus, heaps of chocs, 1 can of livita (for instant boost of energy!) came back to hotel after that and packed... then sleep.. ZzzzZZZZZZ
14th feb- Happy Valentines Day!!!! more like... Happy dying-climbing-up-the-mountain Day for me.. haha! had buffet for breakkie at 6 and left for mt.kinabalu at 7 smth.. apparently it was a 2 hr plus drive to the foot of the mountain.... so yea.. reached there at 10... was planning to find a group of ppl so can share same guide.... cheaper marrr.. split the guiding fees... but for my mom, it was more like i need a companion.. orelse so lonely one person...hahaha!! but yea.. i think we arrived kinda late... no one to share a guide....later on there was this american dude, jesse, who wanted to share a guide.. so not that bad... 35 bucks each.. guide name was molonius tinggal... come to think about it, they don't earn much as a guide.. i mean, two days accompanying us to climb up mount.kinabalu and only get 70 bucks or maybe less since part of it will go to the company whatsoever.....
anyway...... the climb up was EXHAUSTING!!! it was a 6km climb to laban rata resthouse....it was hot coz i was wearing track pants(silly me!) and my backpack was HEAVY!!!!! and the american is tall so he climbs way faster.. and i was behind all the time trying to catch up... mind you it's not easy since it's uphill and full of rocks and the stairs didn't help much as the gaps are huge!!! and the air gets thinner as u go up.... i kinda envy those who got to rest.... in the end, i asked the guy to go ahead as i was slowing him down.. the guide stayed behind to look after me... i think he got kinda annoyed with me asking how long more after every hundred metres or so...reached laban rata resthouse after 4.5++ hrs of climbing.... so torturing! at times i was thinking whether it wld be worth it.. i mean, it's just a sunrise afterall.. u can go to any other mountains that's way smaller and still get to see the sunrise.... i was wondering whether snorkelling wld hv bn better.. hehehe... anyway, sat at laban rata for an hour or so enjoying the view.. it was very peaceful... they had a restaurant... i think food's not that cheap coz a can of 100 plus cost 4 bucks!!!
at 4 smth, climbed to gunting lagadan hut.... the walk up felt long and i was tired.... stupid rocks and stairs again... GRRRR!!! the place was ermm..... really really basic... toilets, baths, a kitchen with stoves and dishes and a sink, and rooms.. that's all.... each room has two double decker beds.. shared a room with the american and two ozzies... showered and took a nap till 6... woke up to have my cup noodles.. no way i'm going all the way down and back up just to hv my dinner.. it wld kill me and i wld be hungry after i come back up again.... besides, had to reduce the weight of my bag.... dinner was GOOD as i was in time for the sunset!!! the view was breath-taking.... mann!! it was the most beautiful sunset i ever seen as i was above the clouds.... it was just gorgeous!! sunset dinner on valentines day..... how romantic ... hahaha! i don't need to mention who with or it will just spoil everything and it won't be romantic anymore.. lolx! as if i know what romantic is anyway.. pfft! but.. just check out the view below... it's better to see it in real life.... it's not as impressive in photos coz i'm not a good photographer.... but still... it's nice..right??
eye level to the clouds
getting dark...
happy with my maggi noodles and sunset dinner.
15th feb- woke up at 1.45am.... cldnt really sleep the night before... was waking up every hour... i can't really sleep if there's ppl snoring.... 2.45...started the climb up the mountain to reach the peak... approx. 2.1 km to the peak from the resthouse.... towards the peak, i really had difficulty in breathing... had to stop and catch my breath after every 10 steps or so.. it's that bad... probably coz i'm not fit enough..i was really really tired and cln't really walk straight.... and the guide didn't let me take my time and rest.... think it's coz jesse is way way in front.. and as a guide, i think he's meant to keep an eye on both of us...... if i rested, it wldn't be so torturing... i really don't see the rush to go up there so fast coz sunrise is only at 6.. have like heaps of time...jesse was way way ahead of me... meaning he was freezing up there way before me..haha! i didn't kno that we wld be climbing all the way to the top, to the very highest peak.. i thought will be just one of the lower ones and see the sunrise from there... wld kinda hv the same effects coz we are already so high up.. few metres won't hv much diff... anywayz... i reached the peak at 5.20.. it was freezing up there... really really freezing cold!!!! and guess what? sunset is arnd 6.. meaning i had to freeze my butt of for another 40 mins.... but heck i'm proud of myself!! i climbed the highest mountain in south east asia!!!!!!!!!!!! sunrise was just as good as the sunset.. well, maybe a bit better coz there's that feeling of success... too bad the photos weren't as nice as sunset.... coz i didn't kno how to use the camera function.....
on my right.... yay!! i see some light!!! the sun's rising!!!
on my left.. the moon is still up... a more nicely taken picture.... with pinkish cotton candy clouds.. can u see it??
interesting cloud shape... it looks like a....... dog? i dno.. hehehe.. use ur imaginations...
i'm above the clouds!! WOOT!!!! haha!
walking down.....
look... the sun is popping out!!
the walk back down to laban rata was tiring.. i slipped a couple of times and my toes hurt coz of downhill... ankle was bruised as well... but still had to walk down..was going quite slow... reached laban rata at 8.20 something..... they had free breakfast there.. i didn't know that!!!! shldnt have brought so much food then!! they have koko crunch, cornflakes, mee goreng, nasi goreng, toast, eggs, tea, coffee, milk..... cldn't eat much tho.. damn!!! bought a can of 100 plus for my journey back to timpohon gate and two plasters for my bruise on my ankle.... at 9.. we started walking back down... we were going pretty fast and this time i could keep up coz it was downhill... hehehehe.. but later, our legs were hurting, esp the knees.... ouch!!!! i really wished i could just fly down or something.... we reached at 11.15am...the last 50m perhaps was another flight of stairs... but it was going up!!! so legs weren't as painful as going down but still...tiring... mom and dad was there already.. according to them, we were one of the earliest... woottt!!! go us!!!
where's my bag? the guide is carrying it... no wonder i cld keep up.. haha!
after the climb, got back to the kinabalu park and got my cert.. had to pay 10 ringgit for it but i def want it!! all the way up there.. it's a big accomplishment for me!! no training somemore.. hehehe.. apparently ppl do train or get themselves fit first before climbing.. i told my dad i did't know it was that tough.. and he said :"u think what? climb one tree hill or bukit gasing is it?" haha! well, i actually thought it was just like that.. but hehehe. i underestimated the power of the MOUNTAIN.. not hill... ishh.. silly me! gunung, bukan bukit! hahahahaa!! anyways... when got back to the hotel, i showered then sleep... mom and dad went and buy those dry seafood... at night, had western food at those restaurant house place called gunters.. the lamb was SOOOOOOO yummy!!!
16th feb- day to go back... woke up in the morning and body was aching like hell.. i couldn't walk properly.. it hurts a lot especially when i walk down any stairs.... went to the pool and swim for a lil.. can't even swim!!!! omg! after that, had buffet for breakkie again.. then walked around the pool and snapped photos.... hehehe.. dolphin photos!!!!!!!
woah! i think this is the longest post ever!!!! longer than my bday one.. hehehe.. well, it's 4 days combined into one.. hehehehe.... and then so many pictures.. the most pictures in one entry.... ok, time for me to sleep now.. it's 2.25am over here.. i'm kinda awake but nd to sleep so i won't get jet lag....bye!!

shermayne's 18th birthday...
came back from one-u at 5 smth with see song koko....karkei, matthew, sinseanne and my brother were at home already.... had some coconut jelly then showered... when i came down... yiwen, yitwei, yitweng, bobby, ernest, siewaun, shaleeni were there already... kinda embarassing coz i wasn't at the door to greet them.... they were playing mafia... joined in..later, melissa, angeline, pauline and her parents, my 3rd uncle's family, lyntern koko nd yee min che che (nt sure bout the spelling), uncle ngang nd family arrived.... when yuen, xuan nd wibian arrived, my brother went out with them to collect the cake, the naan nd rendang frm ss2..so yea... we continued playing card games.... was already 7 by then...
at 7 smth, started eating and chit chat and took photos... annabelle came at 8 but just for a lil while...took some photos again... was kinda worried that melissa nd angeline wld feel kinda left out coz the rest were swimming friends... cldnt get more primary school mates to come coz they can't make it.... but it turned out well... they blended in easily... it was all good... later....played this drinking game with shandy and coke... pretty unhealthy but it was fun....
basically it goes like this..
- the cards are spread out forming a small circle... we all sit around it and each hv a cup of whatever drinks... we take turns taking the card....
- black 2,3,4,5 means that the person will hv to take the amount of gulps corresponding to the no. shown on the card...
- red 2,3,4,5 means that the person can choose anyone in the cirlce to take the no. of gulps....
- 6 is the toilet pass meaning u can use it to go to the toilet if ur bladdes is real full frm drinking too much....
- 7 is the happy game... where we start counting and the 7th person will hv to say Happy instead of 7... multiples of 7 or any number that consists of 7 must be replaced to Happy.... the person who loses will hv to take one gulp....
- 8 is fruit game where each of us take turns saying the name of a fruit and the next person will have to say the previous fruit and add their own fruit....e.g. first person says apple.... 2nd person will hv to say apple, orange(choice of their fruit), 3rd person will have to say apple, orange, honeydew(choice of their fruit) and the list goes on till the person forget the sequence.... loser will take a gulp....
- 9 is where u automatically take one gulp...
- 10...ho ho ho... 10 is the marathon game aka terrible!! everyone starts drinking the same time but can only stop after the previous person stops....the maximum u can drink is 2 cups... so if u want, u can just drink 2 cups straight instead of drinking it slowly nd waiting for the previous person to stop....
- J is where u decide what actions must be done before or after u drink...
- Q is the topic game where u come up with a topic...e.g the person decides on food.. the each person will hv to name a type of food.... the person who ran out of what to say or repeated what others said loses and will have to take a gulp...
- K is the nothing unless u take the 4th K where u hv to consume one whole can....
- A is where everyone takes a gulp....
- if you really hv to go to the toilet and don't have a toilet pass, then u will hv to quit the game.... if u say the word DRINK, then u urself will have to take one gulp....
phew! that was long.. doubt u wld read it anyway.. just typing it down just in case i wna play it next time and i can refer to this to see the rules...hehehehe.... played halfway then blow cake... the cake was huge!!!! choc banana cake, double recipe from secret recipe.. it was so good!!!!!!!! after that, continued the drinking game.... when the shandy ran out, we had to take the coke which was worst coz it was so fizzy.... really had to go to the toilet....what made it worst is when siewaun and matthew started tickling me... man!! angeline was the first to quit coz she couldn't consume one whole can of coke, matt quit coz he cldn't stand it anymore... i used my toilet pass and it felt soooooooooooooooooooo good!!!! it's like.... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! hahahaha.... the best feeling man.... later, everyone started to quit... couldn't stand it anymore...all went to the toilet...
arnd 11 smth, 12, it was opening presents time.... so fun!!!! felt like a little girl opening up her presents in front of everyone.. hehehehe.. i was meant to feel 18!! lolx! but screw it man!!! i enjoyed the opening presents part... haha!!! can't remember all the presents but i'll try..
silver bracelet
o'reef shorts and top
teddy bear key ring and towel
tropicana life bag
teddy bear photo frame
magic 8 ball

this cute lil february angel with my birthstone
guylian chocs
necklace
baby blue arena swim towel
eletronic toothbrush
snowboarding pants
a laptop, optical mouse
abswing exercise machine
the above was listed in the order that i opened the presents...hehehehe... not the EXACT order but sort of.. hehehehe... after i opened all my presents, everyone started to go home..some went home before that coz it was kinda late already.... shaleeni sleptover.... we slept at 4 smth and work up 6... so tired..
went to the club for gym then training... today was crosswise so i could keep up... hehehe..short distance sprints so it's impossible for them to overlap me...hahaha!!! did 20 laps of warm up then 20 laps of kicking sprints..... 10 free, 10 no.1....felt proud of myself coz i managed to do 20 x 1 lap of butterfly with hsien ming after the kicking..... decided to do it with her coz poor her, she's the only one swimming fly... the rest swam either backstroke or breastroke... after that was 20 x 1 lap of freestyle sprints.... can't really sprint anymore...arms aren't pulling that fast...could feel it... hehehe.. after that, warm down... so nice... hehehehehee....
now i'm at home and my brother and see song koko is still sleeping.. it's 11.52 already.... sorry for the long entry.. :-)

yayyyy yayyyy!!!!! i'm 18!!! lalalalalalala... so excited!! gna hv a party tonight.. heeheeee...
here's what i got from birthday alarm.. lolx!!!
Section 1: The Inner You: Your Real Motivation You are a freedom-loving, strong-willed, and independent-minded individual, and you insist upon living your own life as you see fit, even if that means ignoring convention and tradition. In personal relationships you cannot be owned or possessed, and while you are willing to share yourself with another, you do not always adjust easily to the emotional give and take of a close relationship. Though intellectually open, you can be enormously stubborn, opinionated, and inflexible on a one-to-one level. You have strong convictions and feelings about fairness and equality, and you try to live by your ideals, but your ideals about how people SHOULD treat one another don't always take into account human weaknesses, differences, and needs. You probably dislike sentimentality and traditional gender roles and "games".
Section 2: Mental Interests and Abilities You are a progressive thinker, open and receptive to new technologies and breakthroughs in science, and the latest discoveries in any field. You have high expectations and a deep belief that mankind's problems can be solved through the use of our creative intelligence and inventive mind. You have no patience for those whose conservative, unimaginative outlook limits their capacity to find solutions and envision a better future. You also like to keep abreast of current developments in world affairs, for you instinctively know that what happens in one part of the world affects everyone. You have a strong humanitarian impulse. Practically speaking, you have an aptitude for organization and enjoy being involved in cooperative endeavors or businesses that are contemporary and innovative
