day 2 south island 2007

It's confirmed. My flight is confirmed. Because it's a special ticket, no changes can be made. It's pretty sucky too. Need to wait in LA airport for more than 12 hours before I fly to Montreal!!! I can be the next Tom Hanks in The Terminal. What to do? Wanna pay less ma.... Also, made a mistake of staying in Tahiti for a week!! Parents won't be going. *sigh* So I'll be there alone. Perhaps I'll spend a week soaking up the sun and getting skin cancer :p Anyone wants to join me? No, I'm serious. Anyone wants to join me in Tahiti for a week? C'mon! It'll be fun! The sun, the sand, the beaches... Ahh!! It would be a relaxing holiday in the pacifics!! Even better, who wants to join me in LA for 10 days and Tahiti for a week in January? Any takers? Hehehehe... It's a lot of money but ermmm.. work la in December then join me... please please... teehee :D

24th August: Leaving Akl at 1305
25th August: Arrive Montreal at 1107

9th January: Leave Montreal at 0900, arrive LA at 1351

18th January: Leave LA at 2355

19th January: Arrive Tahiti at 0625

26th January: Leave Tahiti at 1715

27th January: Arrive Akl at 2220

Pretty sucky right now. At first I was so excited going to LA and Tahiti but the thought of just going alone sucks. *sigh* Hope my parents change their mind and decide to come to either LA or Tahiti or Both!! It will be a challenge to find accommodation and plan a budget trip for one person. I can do it! I can do it!!

In Tahiti, the majority speaks French. In Montreal, French is like a second language. Hence.....

I've started learning French ... online ... No, don't ask me to speak to you because I am having trouble with pronounciation. I can count from 1 - 10, I can say Hello, Good evening, good night, goodbye, thank you, please, excuse me, sorry, it's my pleasure. I'm most likely not pronouncing it right but bluekk.....as long as can write it out then can already. hehehe....

To end this post.... Click on the picture below for Day 2 of my South Island trip!! 11 more days to blog about!!

of a wonderful weekend

Of two Wonderful Days ...

My body is aching all over but I'm a happy girl.

Friday...
Went to city in the afternoon and watched the dance practice for the ball. That's the thing you go to when you want to have a good laugh. They never fail to make me laugh and I must say, they are getting better and better. Good job to all the dancers and Vanessa, the dance guru!! Girl, you're awesome!!!! Sometimes, I do wish I can be part of it, learning to dance is really a good thing to know (and a good workout too! always seeing them all sweaty after the dance.... that's how Vanessa get her HOT body from.. teeeheee :p as i said before... the HOT dance teacher :p)

Here's one of the MANY reasons that make me laugh:

Pei Lyn o Pei Lyn! you never fail to be the highlight of my day!!!

After dance, walked to domain with yingswan to get my car. On the way there, heard that Boon's car got towed away. Swan reminded me that last year during laserstrike, my tyres got punctured. Then this year, Boon's car got towed away. Another car incident. Wahlauu!! Thank goodness I didn't get a fine for parking at Domain for more than 90 minutes this time. The whole walk to domain, I was just worrying if I were to get a fine.

Later, swan and i went to warehouse carrying 10 bottles of soft drinks, 1 big bottle of Just Juice and potato chips all the way to foodtown. Two of us only! Sighh.. this is what you get for being YOUNG ones and getting bullied.... Next, it was dinner at The Don and then to Yogoberry where the waffles are awesome!!! Can't wait for my next visit to Yogoberry!!! So full after that. Have been eating so much man!! But all good since I jogged 6.5km on thursday hence the guilt feeling is tiny.

Throughout the whole night I was just high on sugar. See! You don't need drugs to be high. Just eat lots of sugary stuff and you get the same effect! Laserstrike was fun. Good to see so many ppl turning up. $10 for three games is definitely WORTH it! I reckon' UMSA should have more than 1 laserstrike a year coz there's so many ppl who wanted to go but the places are all full. (Read YingSwan's blog for more detailed description of Laserstrike... Heehee :D You'll know why I was laughing so much. One sentence: David Liu Sai Kong with his Jack Sparrow stunt.)

Saturday:
Woke up at 8. Meant to wake up at 7.30 but I was just so sleepy. Didn't feel like getting out of bed as my body was still aching and dead tired. But.... it's super sports Saturday and I need sports! I need to play and run around!! So yea.. off to city to pick up foong, ivan, sj and keewee to go all the way to Mangere to have a friendly volleyball with ACCC (Auckland Chinese Community Club). Waited 15 minutes for sheng, henry, darren, mag and wei en as I did not know the way there. Lolx! Could have slept for 15 more minutes la or have my breakfast. Hehehehe....

When we got there, the ACCC ppl were already playing games. I was just stunned!! They are so good man!!! It's like they can block nearly every single ball and sometimes when you think they won't be able to save it, they actually can! Fuyohh!! They are always moving around the court most of the time and always communicating. Amazing man! Even the girls are amazing! First time seeing so many girls playing volleyball and they are good!! Thank goodness Hikki came as well. She's so good!!

It was real fun playing eventhough I was just standing there most of the time on the same spot. Still having ball phobias la... but slowly overcoming it tho thanks to the trainings before bersatu. Hehehehe.... We lost the first game but it was close. The second game was against another group of people (ACCC has SO MANY players!) and we won. The third game was against the same team we played during the first game and we won. Haha! 4th game won as well. Then it came to the all men's game. Woah!! Most interesting to watch man!!!I think the guys did put up a tough fight for ACCC. The first match was so close! Lost 24-26!! Wahlauu!!! Shows that UMSA guys are nearly as good as them!!! Well done!! The last two games they didn't do as well. Probably it was coz they were tired and haven't been playing since bersatu. But still, good job!!! Just feel so lucky to watch you guys in action! Damn cool wei!! Just have more practices and you guys will be just as good!! Wooott woooTTt!!

Really enjoyed the games with ACCC. It's just great to be part of the game. It was fairplay and the people were friendly. Thanks to Mag and Weien as well for coming along to support. Hehehehe.... Looking forward for next week!!

Went for dim sum after that before sports (sorry swan for not asking u to go! shld have done that when i dropped sj off at the gym. uda say u angry!! sorry my other half!!). Came to gym and volleyball hvnt started. Basketball was still on. Didn't know how to chase them off but had to somehow coz some people paid to come in for volleyball. Felt bad as volleyball was only for less than an hour. Sorry!!!
After that it was netball "friendly" against KAC. *sigh* It's never friendly with them unless it's KAC and UMSA combined. Some of them just get so agro during the game that it's not even enjoyable to play with them. They are good and it would be great to play with them if it weren't for their stuck up, agro attitude. They had like 6 guys and 1 girl playing. So many UMSA members turned up for netball as well. Soon we decided to get more UMSA guys to play. We had our usual netball guys - Darren, Shaun, Sheng, Jeremy and Marc who came for a few netball trainings at the start of the year. And then there were new recruits of guna, ivan, shaun's friend, dallus and kimi. Potential guy netballers!!! Can make up a guys netball team now already!! The guys are good man!! Even the new recruits are awesome!! Guys!! Come and play netball next week as well!!! Hahahaha! Should introduce netball for guys in bersatu next time. Lolx!!

The netball guys with a flying Swan in the background...

In the last 20 minutes, we had UMSA guys vs UMSA girls netball. Pure fun!! The Nat-Kim duo were impressive!! Next week, the sports officer shall have just UMSA netball and no KAC since so many UMSA members turned up!! Good way to find potential players for next year. WootTt!!

The girls.. with nat and kim missing :(

Overall, yesterday was awesome. And thank you to Vanessa, the loyal supporter .. and OOoo!!! Ur cake was Van-licious!!!! Yummy!!! And thanks for taking the photos too!!! You rock!!!

Slept at 10 last night. Was so tired. Woke up at 10. 12 amazing hours of sleep! Had a bad dream tho. Seemed so real. Dreamt that I lost my luggage when I got to canada and when I found it, the bags were empty! Everything gone!! Wahlauuu... scary wei!!! Felt so real. Thank goodness it was just a dream. Now I'll take extra care with my luggage and hope that won't happen!!!

Alrighteyy.. movie time. Hehehehe.. man!! by the time my term starts, i'll probably be brain dead. My brain haven't been functioning for more than a month now!!!

run number 2

Training session #2:

I ran approx 6.5k today. Walked a bit. Took me 45 mins. And now my hip joint is hurting. And my calves, my thighs, my feet and somehow... my back?

Oh Gosh!! What's happening to me? Getting old? No no, i'm still young.. i'm still young.. i'm still young....

On a different note, going to DV8 now seems impossible. Might sell it off for 25 bucks. Hehehe... $5 cheaper than the current selling price. I'm so nice :D

could have just said No

A simple NO wouldn't have been that bad....

Supposed to be having a girl's night out with yin, audrey, swan, yean, weien, peilyn and mag tonight organized by Yin at Honey Bar. Was so looking forward to it since I'm dead bored at home. Asked mum this afternoon and she agreed though I could feel that she didn't like the idea of me going out so late, especially when I mentioned the word "bar". I mean, fair enough, she's concerned with my safety, she loves me and the idea adults have about clubbing is that people spike your drinks, people take party pills and what not. Guess FOAM PARTY sounded a lot nicer and safer eh? Bro told her it's not as bad as she think it is. We're all uni students and as long as we are careful, we would be fine. She did not exactly say the word "YES" but she did let me go. I told her I'll still have dinner before I hit town and she said "OK". Told her I'll sleepover at Yin's place and she said "OK". So obviously I assummed it's a YES, right?

Even when we were out for dinner, she did ask what time I'm going off and which car I'm taking. And after dinner she said she'll send me home first before they go to family friend's for Karaoke.

Then.................... it all started in the car. She started saying how she don't like the idea of me going out so late. How it's dangerous to walk in the city so late with a group of girls. How I should be back by 12am expecting me to just hang out there for an hour and force the whole group to leave at 12am. How this will be the last time of me going clubbing. How she really disagree on the idea of me going out tonight. GEeEEEeeZZ!! Just be straight forward for goodness sake and say :"NO, you can't go". In fact, I had to actually say:"So your point is you don't want me to go la!!!!" then only she said "YES". I bet if I didn't say that, she would have still let me go and I won't be in here blogging and whining. But I could just feel that she really don't want me to go and that she's unhappy. And if she's unhappy, I won't have a good night anyway. Hence, I initiated it.

But yeaa.. she should have just said NO in the first place when I asked her. I was already expecting that as an answer. A simple NO wouldn't hurt. A simple NO wouldn't have made me disappointed. I would have accepted it. I would be a bit gutted but I wouldn't be miserable like how I am now. It's just the fact that she kept me all excited throughout the evening and dinner.... now it's like........ WHAM!!!!

Sighhh... next time what's the point of me asking her things already right? Maybe if I were to tell her I'm having a sleepover and leave out the part where I'll be hitting town. But honesty is the best policy, ain't it?

Man, I really do wonder when will be the day where I have no more cinderella curfews and where I tell mum I'm going clubbing on an ordinary weekend and she'll say YES to it. I guess never eh? I guess you only tell the parents after you've gone or not tell at all! And the curfews, perhaps you gotta learn to ignore it and when they ask the next day, just say "I won't do it anymore" but you know you'll do it again and again until they get fed up of asking. Lolx!!! But do I have the guts to disobey them all the time, I guess not.... Maybe I should learn to be a lil more rebelious?

Mummy, daddy, I'm 19. Am I still a little girl? I guess so eh? Lil Chic.. the name says it all... Hahahahahaha!!!!!

Now I'm home alone. Bro's gone out for friend's 21st, parents gone out for karaoke, and me.... at home being miserable. At least there's sports tmrw and the weather better be fine!!!

fatty fatty

This sucks. I've not been doing sports for more than a week. I've been eating and eating. It shouldn't be like this. I'm supposed to stay fit. It's not the exams. I don't have a reason to put on weight.......... but I am!!! This is the bad thing with being too active. Coz once you stop being active just for a lil while, you'll start putting on weight real FAST!!!

Everyone's started uni hence they are busy. Whereas for me, I'm rotting here. Denise has gone back to Singapore. She was staying with me for a few days which kept me occupied. I do have things to do. Perhaps I will start looking for a job. Man, I've been saying this since ages ago but haven't come to doing it. Just kept on procrastinating. And then there's the trip down south for me to blog about but I'm feeling lazy in doing that. Hopefully I'll get to it some time next week.

I'll be leaving for Canada either on the 17th or 25th of August depending on seats availability. If there's seats on the 25th, then I'll fly on the 25th. If not, I'll have to fly on the 17th.

OoOo!! I've just came up with a physical challenge for the next few weeks!

Mission: Run the route of Round the Bays (From Britomart to St.Heliers Bay) before I leave for Canada.
Mission to be completed on the 11th of August (Saturday)

Who's up for it? kekekekeke

Shall start training for the big day tmrw provided weather is fine!!!

byebye zaf

There she goes....

Mama Chic has flown off!!

I miss mama chic. It's not like I see her everyday but just the thought of not having mama chic in NZ just makes me all :(....

The next time I go for netball, there won't be zaf there anymore. There won't be a girl with tall and sexy legs standing by the goal post waiting for me to throw a high ball and shoot it into the net. I won't have a headless chicken teman with me anymore.

Zaf o Zaf! Who's gonna help me look for fishes now? Teeeheeee :D Don't worry mama chic, I'll make you proud one day.. ONE DAY!

Thanks for everything for the past 1.5 years. It really is a blessing to get to know you. The joy you have given me will remain with me forever. Goodbye for now but not goodbye forever! I'm missing you already!!

Good luck and all the best! I know my mama chic will succeed in everything she does! I'll see you again one day!!!

brief summary of bersatu games canterbury

I'm back from my two weeks trip at south island. A lot to blog on. I wonder how long will I take this time to write about every single day. Better start soon before I start to forget everything. Now, just a "brief" summary about everything as I will slowly type out every single day after this.

Main reason to fly down South was for the Bersatu Games. But this year, the Bersatu Games was a great disappointment. We did get 2nd overall which was our target since we've been getting 3rd the past few years. I guess this games really showed me that a placing is not everything. It is the joy, the experience and the friendship made during the Games that matters most. This year's games obviously did not have much of that hence the disappointment. I blame it on the organization. Christchurch obviously failed in that. It's harsh but it's the truth.

I felt that the Games was all tensed and stressed up that the players hardly have time to socialize. The games schedule were done in favour to CMSA themselves. Most contingents had back to back games and clashes. Players had to worry about conserving their energy and worry about getting to their next game in time that they can't really put their whole heart into any particular sport and have fun. And if Chch reason was that MSD pressured them to have 4 days of games instead of 5, then I have to say RUBBISH! This was because last year in Dunedin, the games went for 4 days as well and not 5. They managed it well despite ending kinda late on the first few days but everyone enjoyed themselves. I'm sure the majority enjoyed bersatu games in otago and the majority were disappointed with the bersatu games in canterbury this year. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Personally, I enjoyed pre-Bersatu and post-Bersatu more than the Bersatu Games itself this year. The trainings months before the games were great fun. The mini tour around Chch with Swan, Audrey and Peilyn was filled with laughters and they were good memories indeed. Audrey and peilyn do make a great pair entertaining each other. Swan didn't emo this time. Or maybe, I didn't realize it? Lolx! The road trip with 13 people after the games was memorable and definitely a great experience. Exhausting but AWESOME! Definitely unforgettable and will be cherished for a lifetime. Like last year, new friendships were made and got to know everyone better.

The hot guys of the post-bersatu road trip

The chun chics of the post-bersatu road trip
Alright, more on this another day. As you can see, I had an awesome time despite the not-so-good bersatu games. Ok ok, it's not that bad la... we did come 2nd, the cheering was awesome, I nearly lost my voice from it, there were some surprise medals, some sportmanship was shown in some games, I did get medals in all the events I participated.... I am happy!!! But... it could have been better!
