could have just said No

A simple NO wouldn't have been that bad....

Supposed to be having a girl's night out with yin, audrey, swan, yean, weien, peilyn and mag tonight organized by Yin at Honey Bar. Was so looking forward to it since I'm dead bored at home. Asked mum this afternoon and she agreed though I could feel that she didn't like the idea of me going out so late, especially when I mentioned the word "bar". I mean, fair enough, she's concerned with my safety, she loves me and the idea adults have about clubbing is that people spike your drinks, people take party pills and what not. Guess FOAM PARTY sounded a lot nicer and safer eh? Bro told her it's not as bad as she think it is. We're all uni students and as long as we are careful, we would be fine. She did not exactly say the word "YES" but she did let me go. I told her I'll still have dinner before I hit town and she said "OK". Told her I'll sleepover at Yin's place and she said "OK". So obviously I assummed it's a YES, right?

Even when we were out for dinner, she did ask what time I'm going off and which car I'm taking. And after dinner she said she'll send me home first before they go to family friend's for Karaoke.

Then.................... it all started in the car. She started saying how she don't like the idea of me going out so late. How it's dangerous to walk in the city so late with a group of girls. How I should be back by 12am expecting me to just hang out there for an hour and force the whole group to leave at 12am. How this will be the last time of me going clubbing. How she really disagree on the idea of me going out tonight. GEeEEEeeZZ!! Just be straight forward for goodness sake and say :"NO, you can't go". In fact, I had to actually say:"So your point is you don't want me to go la!!!!" then only she said "YES". I bet if I didn't say that, she would have still let me go and I won't be in here blogging and whining. But I could just feel that she really don't want me to go and that she's unhappy. And if she's unhappy, I won't have a good night anyway. Hence, I initiated it.

But yeaa.. she should have just said NO in the first place when I asked her. I was already expecting that as an answer. A simple NO wouldn't hurt. A simple NO wouldn't have made me disappointed. I would have accepted it. I would be a bit gutted but I wouldn't be miserable like how I am now. It's just the fact that she kept me all excited throughout the evening and dinner.... now it's like........ WHAM!!!!

Sighhh... next time what's the point of me asking her things already right? Maybe if I were to tell her I'm having a sleepover and leave out the part where I'll be hitting town. But honesty is the best policy, ain't it?

Man, I really do wonder when will be the day where I have no more cinderella curfews and where I tell mum I'm going clubbing on an ordinary weekend and she'll say YES to it. I guess never eh? I guess you only tell the parents after you've gone or not tell at all! And the curfews, perhaps you gotta learn to ignore it and when they ask the next day, just say "I won't do it anymore" but you know you'll do it again and again until they get fed up of asking. Lolx!!! But do I have the guts to disobey them all the time, I guess not.... Maybe I should learn to be a lil more rebelious?

Mummy, daddy, I'm 19. Am I still a little girl? I guess so eh? Lil Chic.. the name says it all... Hahahahahaha!!!!!

Now I'm home alone. Bro's gone out for friend's 21st, parents gone out for karaoke, and me.... at home being miserable. At least there's sports tmrw and the weather better be fine!!!

hahahah...well, my dear girl, my mum did the exact same thing when I was 20!!!one year more than u ok!!

But she didn't like me going out with my older sis and her friends. She knew I won't enjoy it. She was right :). I had more fun going out with my friends later in the year.

Trust your mum's intuitions, for you will be a mum some day ;). And yes...save it for CANADA!!!! weeeeeee....word of caution though

'with great power come great responsibilities'. Lame I know, but I trust you should understand this well =). Glad to see you growing up thinking like a lady :D
