brief summary of bersatu games canterbury

I'm back from my two weeks trip at south island. A lot to blog on. I wonder how long will I take this time to write about every single day. Better start soon before I start to forget everything. Now, just a "brief" summary about everything as I will slowly type out every single day after this.

Main reason to fly down South was for the Bersatu Games. But this year, the Bersatu Games was a great disappointment. We did get 2nd overall which was our target since we've been getting 3rd the past few years. I guess this games really showed me that a placing is not everything. It is the joy, the experience and the friendship made during the Games that matters most. This year's games obviously did not have much of that hence the disappointment. I blame it on the organization. Christchurch obviously failed in that. It's harsh but it's the truth.

I felt that the Games was all tensed and stressed up that the players hardly have time to socialize. The games schedule were done in favour to CMSA themselves. Most contingents had back to back games and clashes. Players had to worry about conserving their energy and worry about getting to their next game in time that they can't really put their whole heart into any particular sport and have fun. And if Chch reason was that MSD pressured them to have 4 days of games instead of 5, then I have to say RUBBISH! This was because last year in Dunedin, the games went for 4 days as well and not 5. They managed it well despite ending kinda late on the first few days but everyone enjoyed themselves. I'm sure the majority enjoyed bersatu games in otago and the majority were disappointed with the bersatu games in canterbury this year. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Personally, I enjoyed pre-Bersatu and post-Bersatu more than the Bersatu Games itself this year. The trainings months before the games were great fun. The mini tour around Chch with Swan, Audrey and Peilyn was filled with laughters and they were good memories indeed. Audrey and peilyn do make a great pair entertaining each other. Swan didn't emo this time. Or maybe, I didn't realize it? Lolx! The road trip with 13 people after the games was memorable and definitely a great experience. Exhausting but AWESOME! Definitely unforgettable and will be cherished for a lifetime. Like last year, new friendships were made and got to know everyone better.

Alright, more on this another day. As you can see, I had an awesome time despite the not-so-good bersatu games. Ok ok, it's not that bad la... we did come 2nd, the cheering was awesome, I nearly lost my voice from it, there were some surprise medals, some sportmanship was shown in some games, I did get medals in all the events I participated.... I am happy!!! But... it could have been better!
