shopping is therapy

I spent 250 USD today ... that is approx 340 NZD ...

Gap formal coat - US 53.49
Champion shorts - US 5.28

Nike shoes - US 42.79
Levis Jeans - US 28.88
Party Dress - US 17.66
White long sleeves & black mini skirt - US 16.57

Levis Jeans - US 13.90
Suitcase - US 42.79

Adidas track pants - US 23.50

And I'm not done yet ...

Loving Atlanta so much. It's like shopping heaven!! And pretty cheap too... Levis jeans are so so cheap. Good to have cousins here too. They've been driving me around to the factory outlets for shopping.

And food... mmm.. loving the southern food... because southern food are DEEP FRIED or SWEET.. PERFECT for my taste! Went for a southern style buffet before shopping today. My cousin told me not to stuff myself up. Just eat moderate coz it's only 8 bucks per person. I didn't want to stuff myself up as well coz i will have trouble fitting into clothes after that.

But....

Because I'm Sher Mayne, it is impossible just to eat MODERATE when there's so many kinds of deep fried food around. So hard to control myself. Deep fried chicken, deep fried pork, deep fried fish fillet, roast pork, fries with cheese sauce, deep fried chicken liver (pretty good i must say), pizza, clam chowder, mac n cheese, cucumber, carrots, coleslaw, devilled eggs, chicken salad, egg salad ... these were the food I ate and they had many more but I was too full to try them.

For dessert .... pecan pie, chocolate pie, cheesecake, chocolate cake, orange sorbet ... these were the desserts i had and again, they had others but .. damn tummy!!! couldn't really walk after that. I took an hour plus buying my nike shoes because I was waiting for the food to digest before going to clothing stores to try on the clothes! HAha!

Thank goodness I actually lost some weight in Montreal.. now I don't feel guilty at all! now you all can expect what you all expected ... to see a chubby shermie back in Auckkie.. Whoop whoop!

Thank goodness I controlled myself from shopping much in Montreal, New York and Boston ... now I can shop till I drop!! (coz my remaining money are for shopping now)

This is what I call ... Living life to the fullest!! Yeaa man!!!!

boston game

What? NBA Game
Who? Boston Celtics VS Chicago Bulls
Where and when? TD Banknorth Garden @ 21st December

This I must say was the highlight for me coming to Boston. I was just so excited for this very day and it did not let me down. Was surprised I could actually see the court and the ball despite being seated so high up. The whole day I was just waiting for 7pm to arrive which was when the game started. Got to the stadium half an hour earlier and the place was already so crowded. They told us no recording devices or cameras allowed during the game but hehehehe.. obviously I did not listen. How can I just pay 64 bucks to just watch a game and not take any pictures or videos? Plus I'm sure a lot of people will be taking videos and photos. Haha!

The view of the basketball court! Don't even ask how much that jersey is.... i am thinking of selling it on trademe when I get back.. lolx! get part of my money back!! Any buyers? Adidas you know!! No.5!

I was overwhelmed with how big the place is and just couldn't actually believe I am watching an NBA game LIVE, in PERSON! Took quite awhile for everything to sink in.All these basketball stars are like just right there and I am watching them strutting their skills, blocking balls, catching rebounds and making shots not through a TV/computer screen but in real life. Wahahahahaha!! To make it even better, I am watching the Celtics, the top team in the league!! Mind-blowing... simply mind-blowing with many jaw-dropping occasions...

The Celtics and the Bulls doing their warm-up

Plus, I was being told who I should watch out for in the celtics before coming to boston hence I knew exactly who I should place my eyes on. Lolx! It was pretty obvious though. Garnett is the one that was being mentioned by ivan and jeremy. Allen was the one that appeared on my boston tix. And Pierce .... they were selling his shirts everywhere and he's the captain. No doubt they make up the Big 3. Hahahaha!!

The start of the game ... Spot the Big 3 if you can!

A 40 min game was turned into 2 hours of entertainment. You don't only see basketball players strutting their stuff but you get other sorts of entertaintment during time-outs, half-times and at the end of every quarter. Amongst them are the entertainment from ....

sizzling hot cheerleaders/dancers.....(i think they came out after every single quarter!)

kiss cam (the cam aims at random couples and projects them onto the big screen.. whichever couple appears on the big screen, they have to kiss...)

tiny competitions for the audience in knock-out rounds ... the selected audiences line up on the basketball court and take turns to do free throws... if the person in front did not get the ball in and the person behind gets it in before the front person, the front person is out of the game.... winner is the last one standing... hehehe...

stunt show by the mascot of boston celtics ... just look at the video below ... damn cool!!

From the start of the game, the celtics were already leading throughout the game. It was no doubt that celtics will win it. Well, before the game even started, I knew celtics will win just because. ......... just because i'm there! Hahaha! Ok ok, fine.... it was because the bulls were in the bottom of their league and celtics are the top, so yea.... no doubt la....

Final score: 107 - 82...

This is where the regret came in. I should have gotten tickets for the game against orlando instead which will be on the 23rd. The fight would have been much more closer and will be more intense since orlando has been doing pretty good as well. The game against the bulls got kinda boring towards the end since it was so obvious celtics will win. Bulls basically got thrashed la... If I were to watch a game with a closer fight, then it will be more syok. Hehehehe.... Ohh wellzzz.. my fault again for not doing my research properly on the teams. *sigh*. Nevermind, next time, next time. And yes, there will be a next time I hope! I wanna go for another NBA game!

And the next time, I am gonna be smart. Not only will I check out the team stats before purchasing tickets but I will NOT purchase tickets online. It is so much cheaper to purchase it over here since you do not need to pay handling fees and postage. My ticket is actually 25 bucks only but I paid 64 instead. Basketttt... 40 bucks of postage and handling. Next time, I will go to the place a few days earlier before the game and purchase the ticket. Wahahahaha!! Man, I have no idea why I am planning this now. Not like i will watch another nba game in the near future. Lolx! Perhaps the next time will be ermm...... when I start working and earning big bucks!!! That will be.... long long time more la!! HAhaha!! But yea.. definitely would like to watch it again.

Can tell that i really enjoyed myself eh? I did. I really did. I only started learning to play bball this semester and probably won't get to play much when I return auckland. But man!! After watching the basketball game, I really felt like playing bball!! Just wanna shoot some hoops!!!! It's just like when you watch the olympics and you see those people swimming and then you yourself just feel like swimming all of a sudden ... it is that kind of feeling if you know what I mean.

All in all, it was great despite that ridiculous amount of money I paid for the tix. It was still worth it in the end :)

in atlanta

In Atlanta now ...

- double bed
- auckland-like weather
- clean clothes and towel
- a massive room all to myself
- peaceful neighbourhood
- staying in a suburb far away from the city
- curry chicken, butter prawns, fried mee hoon, "tang yuen"

Feels so much like HOME :)

Sher Mayne wishes you all a very merry and blessed CHRISTMAS!!!!

my last few days

Blogging from Boston ... but not on Boston yet... Hahaha!!

Obviously exams are over!! So happy!!!! Finally!!! A big huge relief! Ehehehehe... I have evacuated my apartment. Sayonara to it already. Now just blogging a few things that happened before I left for Montreal...

1. Survivor Montreal
My last few days in my apartment...cooking was a problem after returning all the pots and pans, kettle and toaster to family friend on Friday. I did a massive cooking on Friday though. Boiled egg and seaweed soup, baked oatmeal cookies, cooked pasta, noodles and rice.

I didn't have a spoon to eat by the way. Only have fork and a massive knife. I don't have a proper mug to drink from. I used a huge ass cup that was used to make smoothies. I boiled water using the OVEN to make my milo.

I steamed some lotus seed pao in the OVEN the other day.

I heat up my soup using the OVEN. I did everything with the oven coz there wasn't anymore pots and pans. It was pretty pathetic and depressing at the same time but I survived! Can still remember my last two dinners ... I cooked my maggi mee using the oven... somemore can have it with egg! Wahahaha!!!

2. Snowboarding on Mt.Bromont
So as I said in my previous post, I was going to snowboard the day before my last exam. No regrets at all. The weather that day was superb!! It wasn't cold at all!! So so luckyyy!! Mt.Bromont isn't a really famous mountain for snowboarding but nevertheless, it was still awesome! Man! Imagine going to the famous ones, that would be even more superb!!!

Just doing one run already took me half an hour. Haha! Would have been less ifI actually know how to snowboard properly. I only know how to use my heels to brake and not my toes, resulting into really sore thighs hence I had to stop and rest. Haha! And not forgetting the numerous times I fell and tumbled. Lolx! And also stopping to take photos of the view.

Did 7 runs in total. Started at 12 and finish around 5.30. As it got dark around 4 something, my last two runs were considered as "night snowboarding" which was pretty cool. The moutain was well lit-up for night skiing and it was just a totally different feeling. Kinda scary at the same time because if you happen to go off trail, die la! Hahaha!

Anyway, just 3 photos.. hehehe.... Look out for more in facebook...haha!

Mt.Bromont during the day

At night where it was all lit up

Yours truly with a breathtaking view in the back!!!

so yea.. that's it. I will try to blog about Boston soon. Hehehehe.. Don't want to keep it till the end of the whole holiday coz it will be heaps to blog. Still have NY that I haven't blog also. But now, gta sleep.

Merry Christmas to all of you and a Happy New Year!

All by myself... don't wanna be ... All by myself ...

All by myself... don't wanna be ... All by myself ...

Evangeline moved out. Smoker don't know go where. I have the whole place to myself.
Good that smoker is gone. I can leave my door open and not smell ciggies. I can walk around the apartment naked (I said CAN, never say DID). Bad that Ev's gone coz it's so quiet, so lonely, so empty ... Feels ... different.

Because I have only one more paper to sit

Because I only need to get 12 out of 60 questions right

Because I have been home the whole day

Because I'm all by myself

Because I don't wanna be all by myself

Because it's just oh-so tempting to go outside and play snow ...

I, Sher Mayne, am going for a one-day snowboarding trip TOMORROW with kim and sham!!

Hehehehe.. it's the day before my last exam which is worth 50%. How smart right? This is never to be done in auckland. It's only what an exchange student can do. I think if I were to tell kim that my exam is worth 50% the next day, her eyes will be wide open and be thinking i'm nuts. Haha! But hey! It's all about doing stuff a normal student won't do, right? Hehehehe...

Will basically be out from 8 to 8 tomorrow. Lolx!

Study today, play tomorrow, suffer the next morning la... I still have two cans of energy drink *winks* I'll make sure I put them into good use =D

snowstorm- exams delayed

Here I am, sitting in front of my laptop, chatting with swannie swan swan, waiting for time to go by so that I can sit for my exam at 9am. I gave up on studying for my last two papers. No more mood to do so. I just want to sit for it and get it over.

Then.... I saw this on McGill's website....

Storm Update - Exams delayed
December 17, 2007

in less than 30 seconds... all these thoughts rushed through my mind .... "it can't be happening. my exams can't be delayed. if delayed, when can i sit it? i'm leaving on the 20th right after my last exam. would they put it on the 21st? how la? i already bought my boston bus ticket. wahlauu!!! or do I sit it after I come back from my holidays? How can they do this to me? It stopped snowing already. Why la they delay it? Must be joking!!!"

Then I clicked the link to see what day it will be postponed to ...

banana pancakes

Last Friday, I had two bananas left and I was sick of eating just bananas. I have heaps of self raising flour left and I have no idea what to do with them as well. Hence, this is what I made ...

Banana pancakes!!!! The pancakes itself actually have the banana taste. Not just your ordinary plain pancakes ok!! It's pancakes to die for!!!

I'm heading to New York on Thursday. When I come back, I have two days of study before my first TWO exams. As I want to try enjoy myself in New York, this week is going to be full on study unfortunately. Even wrote up a timetable and honestly, if I don't follow it, I won't be able to finish my studying in time.

Feeling quite stressed out now. Besides writing up my study timetable, I even wrote up my meal plan from tomorrow till the 14th of December (day where MID EXAM break starts .... and ends. Need to start studying for exam on the 17th the next day.). Had to write up my meal plan to prevent me from buying extra food and not being able to finish them when I leave my apartment. So yea, really trying to minimize any food wastage. Had to think of what food I have left and what meal I can come out with. Not easy ok!

I am going to try blogging less, and stay away from Mindjolt Games! Temperature these few days will never go warmer than -10. So yeaa... that's how the weather is over here.

So nothing much you need to know about me this week besides stressing, studying, eating, freezing my arse off and thinking about all of you and being really really jealous :p

I'll leave you with one last thing.. CLICK HERE to read if you are really bored. Reckon Auck uni is pretty ignorant and slack ...

1. They spelt my name wrong - Sher Main (i hv a feeling some of u gna mock me? yes? no?)

2. They obviously did not know how I looked like hence blurring the wrong faces in one of the photos, leaving only my housemate's face visible. Pretty hilarious! Or maybe I'm just too ugly eh?

3. And that was my September update, not October!! (I've finished writing up my October update but not yet email it to them and I'm yet to write up my November update. Guess I'm pretty slack too eh?)

That's it from me now!! nite nite!!!!!
