6 hours sleep, 12 hours study ...

6 hours sleep, 12 hours study ...

Spent 12 hours (9am - 10pm) down at level zero today studying for my exercise physiology exam with leight and mel. One of the things I missed when I was in Canada - group study with these two wonderful ppl. Like last year, it was intense! Wait, it was not exactly like last year. It was MORE intense. Brain can really explode. Ohh... eyes too! Towards the end, what we read don't even make sense. My eyes were twitching as well. Can really run around pulling my hair out. At one point, I was actually hitting my head wanting to go psycho.

The whole day was spent on ONE past paper. And no, we're not done yet. Shucks man!! Thank goodness we still have tomorrow. Not aiming high for my exams this time. Bye bye to seeing the alphabet A. Must buckle up next sem!! What makes it annoying with this paper is that none of the answers can be derived from the "bible" nor the lecture notes. It comes from readings. Readings that most of us can't be bothered doing. Thank goodness I did some and made notes orelse we'd be even more lost than we are now.

This is just my first paper. Haven't even sat for it and I'm already dying. How? Will I last till the end of this week? I'm already sick of studying, sick of trying to understand my materials. They don't make much sense. So hard to apply the theories and pull them together and apply them.

Alright, enough of complaining. Tomorrow is another long day of battling it out, going crazy and consuming more red bull, chocolate, chips, lollies, drinks .... I wonder what's for dinner tmrw. Hehehehe.. today leight shouted mel and i KFC coz we made a really wild guess that 1-day will be selling watch. Leight said if it's really a watch, he'd buy it for us. Hahaha!! When the clock striked 12, Casio watch was selling on 1-day! But yea... we were nice and said he can buy us dinner instead. Ahahahahaha!!! What are the chances man?? Lolxx!!

Kk.. sleep... In less than 6 hours i'll have to wake up and march to my battlefield again. RaWRRrR!!!

One week from now...

One week from now...

One week from now, I'd be doing some last minute packing before going off to the airport and fly down to welly!!! OoOooOO!! How exciting!!!! It's that soon!!!! I wasn't looking forward to it as much as I did last year but now... I am!!!

But first.... I still need to sit for my exams. I haven't even started. Most people are either halfway through, about to finish or already finished. RawRrRR!! Honestly, I prefer to have my exams on the first day and get them spread out. It's not nice having all the papers crammed up towards the end. It's soooo suffering!! Especially for people like me who can only score well with last minute studying and studying ahead will not really work because everything will be forgotten by then :p Yes, my memory span is very short. Haha!!

Woke up at 5 this morning as I went to bed at 12 last night. Ohh the Red Bull effect kicked in when I was asleep! Coz I woke up at 1 and I couldn't sleep till 3. Rolling on my bed trying to sleep. And yeaa.. had to wake up at 5 coz of the guilt for sleeping so early. Now I'm pretty much awake and hopefully I'll last throughout the day.

Kathmandu is having their mid-winter sale!! Ahhhh...... what should I buy? What should I buy? I deserve to buy something! I missed out on the Queen's Birthday weekend sale ... that 50% off Nike stuff at Dressmart, the $15 glassons hoodie, and probably cheap shorts from the Warehouse. I haven't been shopping for ages. But no... I think I'll just lock myself in the library like what I did on Queen's Birthday and spend the money on food and petrol instead. Save up for the road trip perhaps, since I won't be working for a month from now. Petrol prices is really killing me ... eating me.

And here's just a lil update on what's going on ... (yea.. u can see i'm procrastinating and not wanting to do my study....)

- i've started catching the bus or the train to get to uni because of the rising petrol prices

- if you haven't already known, my bro's gone.... till Feb next year. He's back in msia now and leaving for Sweden in about a month's time for his exchange. I .................... miss him

- one of the person that i really looked up to apart from my brother, is going back to msia TODAY and soon to UK for I don't know how many years! hwei gjin, i'm gna miss u! take care and i know u'll do great over there!! keep blogging and keep us update la!!

- the library is my second home now and will be till the 27th of june

- i'm rolling down domain on the 27th of june in the evening with my other half, anyone wanna join?

- lastly .... please remember this date...

11.2.88

My birthay. Hehehehe.. three years mission accomplished. Wahahahaha!! Lil Monkey, Lil Chic, Wanna Play? Yes, I've evolved into a monkey from a chick. Hopefully it can make me jump higher and move faster :p

See, Lil monkeys are cute!! (just like me :p ... and no, don't say anything and burst my bubble.. haha!!)

1 down 3 to go

1 down 3 to go

1 paper down, 3 to go. Finished my first paper yesterday by ending it with a 20% presentation. It went pretty good though i was so damn nervous coz my friends were not there, it was individual and in front of several academic staff. The Q&A part ... I nailed it due to my cheekiness in not explaining some stuff in detailed in my presentation which made them ask me more about it. Wahahahahaha!!! 2 weeks to study for 3 papers crammed up in the last week.

24th- Exercise Physiology
26th- How People Learn - Gen Ed
27th- Advanced Biomechanics

Wrote up my study plan. It's gna require a lot of determination and a no-slack attitude to accomplish it.

On another note ...

Happy belated 24th Birthday to Mr. Wacky Wiseman aka Darren who turned 24 yesterday!

May you find that light you are looking for real soon ... and you know, we're all here in Auckland praying hard for you :) See you soon in welly and no, you can't run away from me. Despite your busy-ness, you gta make time just for one dinner. Coz .... you owe me ;)

And and..it's not over yet....

There's a thing called perfect timing ....

And this definitely came in the perfect timing ...

My love that I missed out on last year...

But it came back for me this time...

The love for cheap and effective RED BULL!!

Yeaaa--yaaaaaa!!!

Good luck to all of you for the finals!!!! Together, we can do it!!

completed

THE 60%

Been sleeping at 3am for the past few nights.

No sleep at all last night.

what seemed so tempting at 4am this morning

In less than 2 weeks, I finished 20 pieces of chewing gum.

Ate countless of PODS and Kit Kat bars.

Consumed a bottle of BEST BEFORE Red Bull.

Stared at over 30 journal articles over and over.

the condition of my initially tidy table in the midst of battling it out.. not so tidy anymore

All for my 60% written analysis.

And now .... I'm proud to say ...

It's COMPLETED!!! Yayyyy!!!!

Thanks to all of you who layan me when I was going crazy, waking me up during my short naps, who encouraged me to keep on going, for excusing me in not helping out in certain stuff, for understanding me ....

20% presentation is changed to this coming Monday. Got the weekend to prepare for it. Now, tonight, I plan to relax, touch no books, indulge myself in a movie. And I can't wait for some sports this weekend too! Touch no books, only balls!! Yayyy!!

I declare myself two days holiday - Friday and Saturday for now. Teeeheeee :p

Tuesday, June 03, 2008

Oh kill me...

Oh kill me...

I'm on 3000+ words, approx 10 pages and .... I'm not even halfway there yet. Wait, not even quarter! Friday is fast approaching. Haven't even started on the presentation. My brain isn't dry. It's just ... it's just hard to put all the information together and discuss them. Having trouble coming up with a structure. And it doesn't help by not having any results since the testing was not even carried out.

This is the reason why I'm not even gonna consider postgrad next year. If I don't reach the halfway mark by tonight, it's gonna be two all-nigthers tomorrow and thursday night. Oh I need to buy Red Bull!

Besides a cold room, my battlefield is pretty much set ...

Before...

A very very messy table ...

After ...

So clean and empty! I put all the stuff in a box and chuck it aside. Now, my table is all ready for some blood, sweat and tears to drip upon.

Stress!!

Stress!!

2 more weeks. 2 more weeks till the exam break arrives. Can't wait for that actually. Have already decided that the very first monday, i'm gna do NOTHING. Need to relax. Need to breathe. Need to clear the head before I start studying again. The past few weeks have been crazy, and the following two is not gna be easier. Have my 60% written analysis due in 2 weeks which I haven't started as I have no idea what to put in, plus a 20% presentation on it. Fu....dge!! I need to sit down one day and just brainstorm. I got two weeks. One week to finish up 18 articles, one week to get 80% of this paper done. Sigh... Is it even possible? I so just wanna vanish into thin air now.

I am so stressed that...
Today, when I was walking to my lab at tamaki, I walked pass boon and jeremy BLINDLY. They were just less than a metre from me and called me and ... I literally walked pass them and did not see them!! They were just right in front of me! OMG! I didn't realize till... till the lab was over and when I went for volleyball and they told me. I still can't believe I did not see them!!! How blur was I? Or maybe I was just too focused on how the lab was gna be and I don't even know what's going on around me. Arghh! Still can't believe it, still can't. Pretty funny though come to think about it. Haha!

Ahhh...at least volleyball did help me clear my head a wee bit. At one point I couldn't really stop laughing and kee wee tried to be serious with me but failed. Which made us laugh even more. Haha!!

Anyway, tonight was the last dinner we had as a family till next year. Dad's going back to Msia tomorrow and bro is going off next friday. He will be going to msia first, then to europe then to sweden for his exchange and only coming back end of jan. So yeaa... the last dinner as a family for the year 2008. And it's not even june!!

Ok, May is gna be over and I didn't do any shoutouts..
Happy Birthday to the May peeps!!
4th- Rach
6th - Henry
11th- Gladys
12th- Pearl Lin
18th - Sheng
21st - Yi Wen

Hmmnn... quite a handful. If only ... if only I had more time to sabo some of them!!! And then there's also the graduates!! Yes, graduation was in May.

Congrats to all the "oldies". Next year is my turn, I hope! Fingers cross!!!

And lastly,

Happy Mummy's Day on May 11th and Happy Anniversary to Mum n Dad on the 12th.

Ohh wait wait.. one more thing....

Record speed

A wonderful day .. lunch and record speed :)

After many days of miserable weather, Mr.Sun came out and play for the past few days seeing that the newly graduates want to have nice photos taken. Congrats to all the graduates!!! My turn next year ... fingers cross!

And yesterday, it was no exception. I woke up with a big wide smile on my face as I looked out the window. Went for two classes and headed to city. Met up with my wonderful other half who brought me lunch! Yummy baked pasta. Thanks babe!!! During our lunch, something happened. This random old cina pek came up to us and asked if we speaked chinese. I knew something was wrong hence I didn't really want to say YES. But this Swan who is very nice said "a lil bit". And then he asked us to translate this chinese thing to english. He was going to make a complain to Helen Clark, the Swiss Police, Judge and Japanese. No, don't even ask why coz we have no idea. Apparently this dude striked Lotto and he put his money in ANZ bank and he's claiming that ANZ bank has not been giving him interest for the past 3 years and is saying that one of the staff must be stealing his money. That's the complain he wants to make. What a crack up!! It's hilarious. As if Helen Clark would layan him, and Swiss Police? Why Swiss? And Japanese? ................................ Swan o Swan! Sometimes cannot be so nice!! Lolxx! He wanted to pay us for translating it. But we didn't take the money. Come to think about it, should have taken it, at least can use the money to buy butter chicken :p Or we should have said we wanted 100 bucks since he got so much money in the bank!!! Swan, watch out, he has your finger prints, your handwriting and maybe a strand of your hair :p lol!

Moving on.......

Went to the library to study. After battling in the library for 3 hours, went for a run along mission bay to st.heliers. Ran for 3km, stopped, and then ran back for another 3 km. The last 3km, I clocked an average of 5 min 17 sec per km. My fastest ever! Teehee :) Record speed! Face and legs were burning but... it was a darn good run!! Felt so good and happy :)

ohh n btw.. ladies bay is closed for the season. Ahaha!! Construction work going on. Lolxx!!! Till next summer I guess xp

What a day huh?

self evaluation

Self-evaluation

Because I want to improve and I know I can. Because I enjoy the competition. Because I enjoy the game. Because a good game makes me happy. Because it makes me work out. Because... because I just enjoy it.

But then there's the extrinsic motivation as well. Because I want to win. Because winning makes me happier. Because winning gives me an indication of where I'm at. Because winning is one of my goals. Because the want to win makes me wanna train harder. Because I enjoy winning.

At the same time, I want everyone else to have fun. To enjoy the sport. But for the past few days, I have just been wondering if I'm being too harsh, too hard on them. Honestly speaking, I don't think I am. This year is no comparison to the way we trained last year. But I guess I have to understand that the majority is a bunch of new players. They might have different goals and aims. Not everyone will be willing to go that extra mile and push themselves. Maybe the majority just sees this as a social competition. Their main reason is to just go down and have fun and meet new people. For me, I want to go down, have fun, socialise and win at the same time. Because winning just makes it even better!

I'm not too sure where I'm getting to. Lol! Basically, I see potential in this team. But if our aims and motives are very different, nothing much can really happen. I need to know....

aihhh...i don't know. I really don't know. But...I'm not giving up yet :)

That feeling

That feeling

you know what's today?

Yes, Anzac Day.

But for me, today's one of those days, that I dislike and I don't know why I do. No, I'm not saying I dislike Anzac Day. It just happens that today I suddenly feel like that. Maybe it's the weather. Arghh!! I think there's just too much on my mind.

I think I need to go for a run. To clear the head. I haven't ran since the When U A "Pie" run. Ahhh! Netball tmrw, skit prac ... and then study after. And I think I'll run after study. I need it, I really need it. Run it all out whatever is inside me.

On a different note, I shall leave you with a war love story that I found when I was reading the newspaper this morning during my breakfast .... (it's not very often where you can see my readings the news ok :p)

Stepping into 7 weeks of hell

Stepping into 7 weeks of hell

There goes the mid-semester break. As I said previously, it wasn't really a break. I did have some fun though ... sleep, netball, foam party, flat party, sleep, lunch with friends ... And I also studied. Two days at the library. I did get some readings done, I did get myself organized. Well, more like turning on the panic alarm earlier.

Week 8 - 25% test, 10% report
Week 9- 7.5% lab report
Week 10- 25% assignment
Week 11- 25% lab test, 7.5% lab report
Week 12- Logbook due, 7.5% lab report
Week 13- 60% written analysis due - this is more like an exam!!! worth the most compared to other exams during the exam period!

And somewhere amongst those weeks, I will have a 20% presentation.

Oh tell me I still have time for work, netball, other sports, and a life ....

I'm sure I do! I'm Sher Mayne!!!!!

If i do blog, it will be to release stress. If I don't blog, then I'm probably dying.

That's it from me! Good luck to all of you out there who's in the same boat as me. I'm sure there's heaps out there in my position or even worst! Bwahahahaha... let's die die together :D

Holiday

Holiday

I'm on my one week mid-semester"break" now. It won't really be a break. It will be more like an opportunity to catch up. A 25% assignment and a 25% test will be due in after the break. And then there's still more readings to be completed, and catching up on my other two sports sci papers which I did really bad in for the mid-semester test. *sigh* If you think about it, it's kinda sad. It's like when people ask you:" What will you be doing for your mid-sem break?" and your answer is :"Ohhh... studying." What a freak! But one thing's for sure, there's many other people out there that will be doing exactly what I am doing this break. So, we're all in the same boat :) Stupid uni, give us one week break only. Ishhh!!!

Somehow I feel that I have hardly any time to just sit back, relax and just do NOTHING anymore. No time to emo too. No alone time. I think Swan would agree with me on this, yes? No? If it's not study/work, then it will be sports. Time is so precious now that I can't afford to waste any. I wish I do have some time to kill.

Looking forward for the inter-semester break end of june/early july. That will definitely be a break! It better be.

Nevertheless, I'm enjoying this. There's always something to look forward to. There's always something I can do.

Life is sweet.

whenuapai 10 km run

When-u-a-pai 10km Run

I did it! I beat my target. A rather low target I did set, but my time came out very very unexpected. Before I set the target of 1 hr 15 mins, my previous target was 60 mins, aiming to run at an average of 6 mins per km, which has to be faster than the Round the Bays run where I ran at an average of 6 mins 10 secs per km. I ended up finishing it in 55 mins 52 secs, at an average of 5 mins 35.2 sec per km!

The day started off with me having less than 6 hours of sleep and with the groin muscles still pulling, shoulders somehow aching. I so wasn't into the mood of running. Had two eggs for breakfast and rushed out of the house. Forgotten my Red Bull :(

Got to city at 8am where Shaun picked us up. Then the 5 of us (me, shaun, nick, ivan and sharvin) headed to the west of auckland for the run. Reached there around half past 8, drank some Powerade, and mentally tell myself I can do it! At 9am, the 10km run begins! Shaun, Nick and Ivan sped off pretty quick. Sharvin, who had a pretty bad ankle sprain yesterday, stayed with me throughout the run.

The route had more slopes than I expected. But, I kinda enjoyed it. It wasn't boring compared to the flat route around the bays. There were things to see, mainly grass and cow dunk!. There were things to smell, mainly... cow dunk plus the fresh air when there weren't any cow poo. And of course, the people zooming pass us! Haha! Reaching the 5km mark seemed like ages. I was waiting and waiting for it but yet not to be seen. But not long after my clock passed 30 mins, there I saw it. The water station at the 5km mark. The hope of hitting below 1 hr 15 min is super high ... unless, I KO half way.

I got happy. Started running faster, taking more and bigger strides. But .... it only lasted for 2km. The last 3 km wasn't too good. Kinda struggling. Thank goodness Sharvin was running with me, kept on asking me to go faster. There were so many times where I started running faster and then died off and then picked up the pace again. Lolx! For the last km, the watch showed 50 mins. Bwahahahaha! Confirm can be under 60 mins la! I sorta slowed down then since I know I can hit under 60. The body and mind was giving in as well. Haha! But anneh still said to go faster. Sprinted towards the end. And... we clocked a nice 55 mins 52 sec :) Big thanks to anneh actually who pushed me towards the end.

After the run, it was some lucky draw thing. None of us were lucky. Lolx! And one thing we realized was .... we were the only asians running!!! Hahahaha!!! Headed to westgate for lunch after that. Chinese buffet! I was so hungry man. But yea.. no guilt at all after the run. Teehee :)
Now, I'm suffering from sore feet, sore thighs, sore knees, slightly burnt face.... but, i'm one satisfied bugger!

Pre-run

Pre-Run

Judging by the condition i'm in .. i.e. sports non stop since wednesday, a slight groin strain AGAIN ... sore calf muscles ... sleeping late ...

My target time for the 10km run in 8 hours time will be 1 hour 15 minutes. Slow, I know. But taking all of the above into consideration, can la!!!!!!

Gnitez! Daylight savings has ended. So turn your clock back 1 hour. And to those in Msia, NZ is now 4 hours ahead instead of 5 :)

Sports and Report

Sports and Report

Ahh! Finally finished my first report for my practicum! Finished it earlier than expected. I wasn't planning to sleep at all tonight. For 10%, I spent so much time on it. It actually got me wondering if it's worth it. I have two tests next week on the same day, one after another, 20% and 25% and I have touched nothing for them. Talk about priorities huh? Hence, the very end of my report wasn't written well. I skipped a lot of facts that I have read up so far and decided not to put them in. Hopefully what I wrote is sufficient enough.

And now.. to sports. Just had netball today. Again, got thrashed. Today was the day where I really really wished I am taller! Seriously, their hands were literally right on top of my ball when I was getting ready to shoot. It's like I knew it for sure that once the ball leaves my hand, it will touch their hand and won't even reach the hoop! I managed to get a few balls in nevertheless but still!!!! *sigh*

I also realized one thing. From yesterday till this coming Monday, I will be doing sports every single day.

Yesterday (Wednesday) - jogging ~6km
Thursday - netball
Friday - jogging
Saturday - super sports
Sunday - Whenuapai 10km run.. jeng jeng jeng ...
Monday - netball

I can finally call myself a physically active person now.
