NYC

There's a thing called LAZY and PROCRASTINATION

Yes, I'm so lazy to blog about NYC. It's been more than a month already. Man, should have blogged about it when it was still fresh in my mind. Ohh crap! And there's still the south island trip mid of last year. Ahhhh!!!
So ... here's NYC .. i'll try my best la...

NYC..
7 Dec - 11 Dec

How was it like?
Well, just turn on the TV, watch Heroes, Maid in Manhattan or any other movies that's filmed in New York and you'll know what it's like. It looked exactly like what's in the TV.
First day when we arrived and set foot onto the busy streets of New York, we were just stunned by everything around us. Large billboards, LCD screens, yellow taxis, busy cars, human traffic ... We were basically standing in one spot for 5 minutes just to digest everything before we started walking around.

So what did we do whilst we were in New York?

7th Dec
Arrived at 7 in the morning. Checked into our backpackers which was located near Central Park and caught the subway to downtown.

Walked along the busy streets of downtown Manhattan.
5th Avenue, 6th Ave, 7th Ave, Broadway, Times Square ... you name it, we've been there.

Amongst the many things we saw ...

Huge ass M&Ms chocolate store, Hershey's store, ESPN zone, Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood, Rockerfellar centre, Empire State Building, Trump tower, Macy's, St.Patricks Cathedral ....

Empire State Building

For dinner, we had mexican food. Fajitas... yumm yumm... But .... as usual ... had to pay tips...RAWRRR!!

After dinner, we went to a live stand up comedy show. It was supposedly 10 bucks a ticket. We thought it was cheap and went for it since we had nothing to do that night. But ..... we got
conned!! We had to purchase minimum 20 bucks worth of drinks per person. *sigh* And, the US drinking age is 21 hence ... all we had was unlimited fizzy drinks. We couldn't really drink 20 bucks worth of fizzy drinks as we were already full from dinner. Apart from that 20 bucks, still had to pay tips too! Far out! Felt so broke after that.

8th Dec

Central Park- where Maid in Manhattan was being filmed. We even saw the rocks where we THINK one of the scene was being shot there.... where you have the skyline in the background. As we haven't been seeing green green trees for a fairly long time, it was great to just walk around Central Park. It was beautiful. But, nothing can beat NZ that's for sure. Walked around a few street markets as well but we didn't buy anything.

Battery Park - where we were lucky enough to catch a free street show dance performance. Was rather entertaining. Then, we caught a FREE ferry to Staten Island. Main purpose .... To catch a glance of the Statue of Liberty from FAR. You see, we really had to save money!

Financial District - where the famous Wall Street Charging Bull is...it was HUGE!! even its balls were huge! hahahaha!

World Trade Centre site - Where the twin towers WAS. Now... nothing. nil. kosong. zilch. Just constructions. Heaps of it.

Century 21- shopping shoppping shopping. Cheap, branded shopping. Kim's fav place. Fine, mine too la!!

Seafood for dinner near this wharf place. Can't remember the name. But let's just say... it reminded us of home. It reminded us a bit of the viaduct back in auckland. Yeaa...homesickness kicked in and hit us a wee bit hard in December I must say.

9th Dec
Had the option to sleep in whilst Kim went for church. But.... decided to tag along. Besides, how often do you get the chance to sit in a service at that lovely St.Patricks Cathedral??

We were supposed to attend the 10am service but... we were late. Hence, it was breakfast at a DINER before church. Yumm yumm man!! MmMmmMMM!! Good breakkie!

After the service, it was to Union Square Park, Washington Square Park before heading to Brooklyn Bridge. Walked along the Brooklyn Bridge and saw the Manhattan Bridge in the distance. Unfortunately, it was a cloudy day hence we didn't get to watch the sunset by Brooklyn Bridge. Ohh wellzzzz...

Next stop, Chinatown. Lots to see in Chinatown. Heaps of I <3> NY t-shirts and souvenirs.

Dinner however was at
Little Italy as we already planned to have italian that night. It was at a small family restaurant but nevertheless, it was GOOD!!

10th Dec
We ..... went back to the diner for lunch this time. Ehehehehe... and ........ we........ ordered a wee bit TOO much. So much that ... we couldn't eat dinner and my breakfast the next day was settled as well.

This was my last day in NY before catching the midnight bus back to Montreal. Went to see the Juilliard School in Save the Last Dance and then the NBA store along 5th Ave before hitting Century 21 AGAIN.

I need not explain what we did in Century 21 again, do I? Teeheee :)

11th Dec
Arrived Montreal :)
